Super Ego to refuse leases to Conditional-rated carriers and non-domiciled CDL holders starting Nov. 1
The Illinois equipment lessor says it serves more than 1,200 carriers. New rules also screen owner-operators for English proficiency violations.

One of the bigger truck lessors to small carriers is tightening who can rent its equipment.
Super Ego Holding announced on Oct. 29 that new safety and eligibility rules take effect Nov. 1, 2026. The Elmhurst, Illinois, company says it serves more than 1,200 licensed carrier companies across the U.S.
The rules apply to all new lease and rental agreements, all renewals, and existing customers who apply for more equipment.
The three big changes
Safety ratings. Applicants must give their current FMCSA safety rating. Carriers or operating entities with a Conditional rating will not be approved for new agreements, renewals or extra equipment until the rating improves. Leased equipment also may not be run under, or assigned to, a Conditional-rated carrier during the agreement.
Non-domiciled CDLs. Owner-operators with non-domiciled commercial driver's licenses will not be approved to rent or lease. New applications from carriers whose owners hold a non-domiciled CDL or non-domiciled ID will also be refused.
English language proficiency. All owner-operators must submit driving records. Super Ego will check them for English language proficiency violations. Anyone with a violation will not be approved until it is resolved with regulators.
All applicants must also provide documents to verify identity, CDL status, operating authority and regulatory eligibility.
It lasts for the whole lease
The requirements apply for the full term of an agreement, not just at signing. Customers must name the carrier or operating entity the equipment will run under and keep that information current. Any change of carrier needs Super Ego's approval in advance.
The company says failure to meet the standards may lead to immediate termination of the agreement.
"Safety is a shared responsibility across the trucking industry," CEO Aleksandar Mimic said in the release.
Super Ego notes that it is not a carrier. It does not employ or dispatch drivers, run ELDs or haul freight.
