PS Logistics buys Tennessee flatbed carrier Roane Transportation
Subsidiary Loudon County Trucking takes over Roane's trucking, brokerage and leasing businesses, adding more than 170 drivers; terms were not disclosed.

PS Logistics has bought Roane Transportation, a flatbed and Conestoga carrier based in Rockwood, Tennessee.
The Birmingham, Alabama, company said Nov. 5 that its subsidiary Loudon County Trucking acquired substantially all of the assets of Roane Transportation Services, Roane Logistics and B&W Leasing. Financial terms were not disclosed.
What Roane brings
Roane was founded in 1996 by Steve Kennedy and Luke Wyatt. According to PS Logistics, it has more than 170 company, lease-purchase and owner-operator drivers, with operations in Rockwood and Memphis, Tennessee, and El Paso, Texas.
The carrier mainly hauls aluminum, steel, electrical products and building materials across the Southeast and Midwest. Roane Logistics also offers freight brokerage and warehousing.
Roane will keep its name and run as Roane Transportation, a division of Loudon County Trucking. Kennedy will continue to lead the division.
Why East Tennessee
Houston Vaughn, president of PS Logistics' trucking division, said the deal strengthens the company's presence in East Tennessee, "a region that is critical to the aluminum manufacturing sector."
Kennedy said drivers and customers will keep the same local leadership while gaining "the resources and scale to invest further in our people and operations."
A long string of deals
PS Logistics said that since 2016 it has acquired 32 trucking operations and five non-asset logistics operations in the United States. The company, founded in 2004, says it runs more than 5,000 trucks, 9,800 trailers and 65 locations, with asset-based trucking, brokerage, managed transportation and warehousing.
